What is one lesson you have learned that has proven significant in your career?
The one lesson I've learned is that there are an infinite number of other lessons to learn. Essentially, you never stop learning.
I mentioned earlier that I'm self-taught in computer science. I just love learning, and that's what drove me to discover this whole community of people on Reddit who are on a similar path.
There's also a deep sense of curiosity I have for the world that has proven really helpful in my career. When something like ChatGPT first came out, I immediately wanted to understand what it was and how it worked.
I'll go down these deep rabbit holes, and three hours later I'll realize how much I've learned about algorithms. It's helped me in my career so many times.
For example, in a meeting, if someone brings up a topic I know about, I can contribute. This has been especially important for me, as someone who looks like me and has my background.
It's often intimidating for me to feel like I have the confidence to take up space, especially around people who don't look like me. But my curiosity for learning has allowed me to step into that space more confidently than before.
