Favorite Parts Of Working In The Public Accounting Industry As A CPA
Amir, a CPA at Rizvi & Rizvi CPAs, finds the most rewarding aspect of the tax field to be "figuring out...new laws and regulations" and developing "new solutions to clients." The proactive, value-added nature of tax work, where clients view the firm as a partner in saving money, is a key source of job satisfaction, contrasting with the more adversarial nature of audit work.

What do you enjoy most about being in your industry?
It's definitely an evolving industry, even though it's mature. Just within the past five years, with legislative changes passed during the pandemic and back in 2017 with the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, things have changed.
I enjoy the challenge of figuring out new laws and regulations. It's about navigating the framework and coming up with strategies. I like being on the forefront, bringing new solutions to clients based on these new rules.
In public accounting, there are many different sides. The two biggest are audit and tax. Being on the tax side, I feel clients see us as a value add or a positive.
We're here to help figure out how to save them money. Other areas, like audit, can feel more like an adversarial relationship. Clients may question why they're being asked things and why their decisions are being challenged.
I really enjoy that clients look at us with happiness, knowing we're here to help them. That part is enjoyable too.
