What is your biggest challenge in your current role?
The biggest challenge in my role, and in publicity in general, is managing the unpredictable nature of it all. There are always unexpected changes and fire drills.
It can be something as simple as a last-minute shift to a scheduled interview or an entire press day. For example, talent might say they're not going to start until 11 AM, but their press day was scheduled to begin at 8 AM. You then have to figure out how to shift that entire day.
That's something that happens very commonly. It could also be a broadcast appearance where, while they're live on air, a huge news cycle hits. Your appearance will be cut, even after you've worked so hard to secure it.
You just have to think on your feet and know that these kinds of things tend to happen. Adapting quickly and finding solutions on the fly is crucial. Again, thinking ahead before a problem arises is extremely challenging but vital for this job.
