What skills are most important for a job like yours?

Good skills to have in accounting in general, or SOC specifically, is really problem-solving. Problems are going to arise no matter what is happening. Focusing on those problem-solving skills and diving into the details and fact-finding is a great skill to have.

This includes learning what questions to ask and how to deep dive in order to solve problems. Another good skill on the more technical side is learning Excel and how to use data.

A lot of data will come your way, so the best way you can interpret, read, and share that data is crucial. This can be done through Excel pivot tables or a Word doc executive summary, depending on your audience. Therefore, learning how to read, interpret, and share data with others is a great skill.
