What does a day in the life of your role look like?
Every day is a little different, for sure. I am doing National work from Los Angeles, so I spend a lot of time on Zoom meetings. I also get to do some in-person meetings.
Some of the communities I work with are LA-based, and then I travel once or twice a month to DC or to one of the communities we're working with. As my family will tell you, it's been a lot of time on Zoom.
I'm also crafting emails, writing some proposals, and doing a little bit of policy research. I like to start my day trying not to scroll, but really to read the news for relevant information that's happening at the national or local level that could be informing our work.
I'm checking in with my team, and we're often in what we call "sprint mode." So we do a quick daily check-in on priorities and any barriers. We have some more strategic meetings and then try to carve out some focused work time to respond to emails and do some of the more focused writing that it takes quite a bit of time.
