Could you walk me through your career path, starting with your experiences in college? Did you have any internships or jobs before your current role?
Sure, I've had a bit of a circuitous career path in security. I started in college as an Environmental Policy major. During my junior year, I studied abroad in the Amazon in Brazil, doing an amazing field studies program.
Then, I interned at the EPA in DC. This was through American University. I also got to do a field study program in Costa Rica that semester.
This combination of experiences, being able to travel into the rural Amazon – the only way I could get there was by logging truck or canoe – really influenced what I wanted to do after college. When I came back senior year, I felt I had some focus thanks to that.
