How would you describe people who typically thrive in this industry?
I'd say that the people who do the best are people who are really interested in the markets. You have to love investment, love the challenge of finding good companies to invest in, and really enjoy talking to people about those businesses.
I'm just really fascinated by businesses because businesses are really people. I like to think I'm a people person. I'm fascinated by why people do what they do in the environment that they do.
For example, why do you run a business in South Africa versus why are you a government official in India? That's just so fascinating to me.
So, a lot of the reasons why people come into something that they really enjoy is that you just have to have a passion for it. I think those people who have a passion about capital markets do the best.
