What does a day in the life of an emerging market senior portfolio manager look like?
What does a day in the life of an emerging market senior portfolio manager look like?
I start off the day by looking at the news, checking for anything that has happened. I also review our clients' cash balances and address any issues. It's my responsibility to make sure everything is in order.
Sometimes I talk to traders or members of the team. In the morning, Latin America markets are open, so we have meetings about Latin American securities. We also meet with strategists, economists, and companies, or sometimes conduct these meetings online.
Several days a week, I'm in the office for meetings to discuss the Asia region or the EMEA region. We talk with representatives from these areas about geopolitical issues, national concerns, regulation, and anything that might impact our portfolio holdings.
During the day, we have ad hoc conversations about new ideas and innovation related to our companies. I also do some public relations work, such as speaking at conferences or doing interviews to share our ideas and represent the company.
In the evening, Asia markets open. This time is spent watching the news, discussing relevant topics, and executing any necessary trades. I also talk with analysts about their recommendations and how we should implement them.
