What have you learned about this role that you wish someone would have told you before you entered the industry?

I follow a TikToker who was an investment banker in the early 2000s. She has story times where she recalls social faux pas and unspoken rules of being an investment banker.

I think I would have liked a version of that for consulting before I started my job. There are politics and things that consultants should or shouldn't do.

These can make or break relationships, especially if you're trying to network and set yourself up for success. This is also true if you're trying to get more visibility from senior partners or big clients.

There's a level of professionalism and politics that's hard to grasp when you first enter as an entry-level consultant. A cheat sheet or a TikTok series would have really helped.

It would have given me a taste of the unspoken rules of the land.
