How would you describe people who typically thrive in this industry?
The people who thrive in this industry are those who can be really organized and stay on top of their daily tasks. Working with the government involves filling out a million different pieces of paper every single day.
I'm still working on that myself, of course. The people I look up to in my company are those who can keep a really good handle on everything going on around them. You can't remember it all, so people who are good at taking notes or giving themselves reminders are key.
On the flip side, what makes people successful is also having strong people skills. This means being able to have tough conversations with tough people. That's a typical description of someone who thrives: outgoing, someone who doesn't mind talking to people almost all day long.
And it's not always about work. People who can get along with most anybody are the ones who thrive. Then there are those who can really stunt things, and that's also the most important thing.
