What are your main responsibilities within your current role?
As a business owner and independent consultant, I have to create my own business pipeline. This involves a lot of business development, like building and maintaining relationships, networking, and constantly reminding people who I am and what I can do for them. I also need to let them know that I'm available for business.
Business development is a huge part of the work. Then there's supporting my current clients. I do a lot of work with very high-profile, highly influential leaders across the education sector.
It's important to be thoughtful, creative, and strategic. I'm constantly reading, attending events, and talking to people. I make sure I not only know current issues but also have a perspective and point of view on them.
Finally, I need to be able to complete my deliverables. So there's a lot of current client work, as well as doing the work to ensure a continuous business pipeline.
