What do you enjoy most about being in your industry?

I love e-commerce. I think it's such an exciting industry to work in. It's constantly changing and touches so many other industries, such as technology and marketing. There are so many adjacent industries that coincide with e-commerce, and it's just so fun.

One of my favorite things about working in e-commerce is that everyone shops online, especially after COVID. We know online shopping has grown tremendously. It's always fun shopping online or finding a new brand and realizing they work with my company, OKendo. That's always something I feel proud of and it pushes me to keep doing what I'm doing.

Also, there are so many interesting people in e-commerce: founders, entrepreneurs, people who came into the industry to solve a problem. Whether that's clothing for more diversity, treating acne and skin problems, or treating gut health issues, or anything in between, any kind of issue you can imagine, there's something on e-commerce to help solve that.

I also love that it intersects with technology. To run an e-commerce company, you need a store online that runs on a SaaS platform. The biggest one in the space is Shopify, and you might have heard of it. The great thing about Shopify is there's a huge network of other tech platforms that work with it.

Think of your iPhone and its app store. You have an iPhone, which is your piece of tech, and then you have a bunch of different apps you can install to help you with something. That's the network Shopify provides. My company, OKendo, is an app that integrates with Shopify.

The space is constantly changing. New tech is popping up to help solve different problems, and different integrations need to be built. This means my tech does something completely different, your tech does something different, and we share our data to create a seamless experience for the end client, which is the e-commerce brand.

So there's always really cool stuff happening and great events. I mentioned earlier that I'm always traveling and meeting cool people. It's just fun. It's a fun industry to be in. It's relevant, not stuffy, expressive, and creative. You can be yourself, and there's nothing more you can ask for, in my opinion.
