What does a day in the life of a senior vice president of revenue at Audio Eye look like?
Every day in sales can be different, but most of what I do involves working with teams. I strongly believe in hiring people around me who are extremely smart. The rule of thumb is to hire people smarter than you.
Mornings are for deep focus work. I concentrate on emails from the night before, those I need to send out, and communications for the team before the day begins. This typically happens from 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM.
Starting at 8:00 AM, I usually have team calls. I join calls with certain teams to ensure everything is progressing well and to identify any blockers. Throughout the day, I might also join legal or client calls.
I end my day with more leadership meetings, focusing on strategy and ensuring our revenue targets or delivery objectives are being met. During the day, there can be many urgent issues that arise, whether through Slack or with clients, and you always have to address them.
For anyone in startup mode, days are typically 15 hours long on average. You start around 6:00 AM, likely finish around 6:00 or 7:00 PM, and then may get back online at 9:00 PM for some deep focus work. Throughout the day, you're not really doing typical "work"; you're focusing on actions to remove blockers for the team. Your actual work is done in the early mornings and late nights.
