I'll say, underground. It was important to lay the foundation for networking.
My first step in getting my first job out of college was getting involved in clubs at school. Those clubs led to the opportunity to get in front of potential employers.
It allowed me to get to know them as the hiring process took place. So, I was a known name and had a relationship before the piece of paper even landed on a hiring manager's desk.
