What skills are most important for a job like yours?
Number one would be Excel. We use Excel a lot to create charts and upload information.
The other important skill is basic Microsoft Office, like PowerPoint. Although we don't use it that much, it's good to have. Outlook is also important.
Another skill is organization and research. We do a lot of research for the titles we put into the system. The ability to prioritize is key, especially with multiple tasks. You need to figure out which has the deadline and which is due first.
Being flexible with new technology is another important skill. There are many systems I haven't used before, but I learn how to use them. It's about adapting to change.
You might not have used a particular system before, but you can learn it. Ask for help if you need to, and use your instincts to figure out how to operate it. You learn as you go along.
Finally, another important skill is being people-friendly. My boss often tells me that aside from getting assignments done, being easy to work with and get along with is very important. While not always considered a skill, people skills are good to have.
