What skills are most important for a job like yours?

Here's the cleaned transcript:

One skill is graphic design. You don't have to be an artist, but it's good to have the basics, like knowing how to use Photoshop, Illustrator, and Adobe Premiere Pro for basic video editing.

Now, there are other tools like Canva or other AI tools that can help you edit faster, such as CapCut. When it comes to being a social media manager and staying competitive, you want to make sure you have these skills. This is in case you need to edit something or put something together quickly.

This is especially true in the tech startup space. In entertainment companies, they might have someone on the team who specifically handles this. However, in a tech startup, you often don't have that team capacity. So, you want to ensure you have those skills or continue to refine them.

Literacy with AI is another important skill. We're starting to see a lot of jobs in the tech industry being affected because they're being replaced by AI. I don't want people to be afraid of AI; I think it's important to embrace it and adapt by incorporating it into your skillset.

For example, ChatGPT is really helpful for taking a large body of information and summarizing it into quick bits. It's about embracing and using it to process information faster. ChatGPT can't perfectly replicate human writing yet; it won't sound entirely human, especially on platforms like Twitter where it might miss the tone.

It's a tool, but it won't replace a human being, at least not yet, because it lacks that human aspect. So, graphic design and embracing AI tools like ChatGPT and Grammarly can help clean up your copy.

Something else crucial for this role is being open to trends. You need to see what's happening in the space and be able to comment on it, spotting those patterns.

Another skill is empathy. When you're posting a tweet, you want to be able to analyze and connect with your audience, understanding how the tweet is resonating with them.

In the past, when I was a marketing coordinator, I would look at tweets and gauge the general sentiment. I'd try to attach an emotion to it and see what I could recommend later on. If a tweet received a lot of backlash, I'd consider what the company could do to prevent that in the future and what insights could be gained.

A lot of that requires empathy. People feel the way they do for a reason. To meet them where they are, empathy is key. So, those are the skills needed for social media.
