What do you enjoy the most about being in your role?
The thing about sales is you are the lifeblood of a business. Everything kind of starts and stops with you.
Of course, there are so many teams throughout an organization that ultimately support go-to-market teams. But at the end of the day, you're the one who gets to talk to the customers and actually work with them.
When you sell something, you know that the people on the other end of that transaction, in that other organization you sold to, are hopefully getting something that can make their lives better. Especially when I was in mental health, that was always really fulfilling to me.
Even selling project management software, I know that this is a tool that can make people more efficient and productive and help them better manage their workdays. I just love that feeling of being able to help someone on the opposite end of what I'm doing.
I also love talking to people. It's one of my favorite things to do. So it's great to just be able to connect with so many different types of people from different industries. Again, no two days look the same, and no two people are similar.
So you really get to learn a lot about different businesses and get a ton of lens into how different businesses are run, including your own. On the personal side, I love the work-life balance of sales.
It's very easy to manage your lifestyle when you're in a sales role because typically you're not working when clients aren't working. So you can kind of take your evenings and your weekends to yourself and really enjoy your life, and then just lock in when you're at work.
That's what I've enjoyed the most over the course of my career: the ability to feel like those two things are very much in balance for me.
