Could you walk me through your career path, starting with your experiences in college? Please also include any internships or jobs you had before your current role.
I attended the University of Texas in Austin for college, where I majored in public relations. During my time there, I completed a couple of internships that were related to my field.
One internship was as an event planner, where I did event coordination for weddings and similar events. I also had an internship focused more on marketing. These experiences helped me test out different areas, though I didn't have a clear career path in mind at the time.
I found these internships to be interesting, but they definitely steered me toward what I didn't want to do, which was still helpful. I also worked a part-time job at a health food store. It was mostly for fun and to have some money, and I enjoyed the perk of getting a lot of free food.
My college experience was pretty varied and not very focused. After college, I got a job working for a recruiting company, specifically doing technical recruiting. I did that for about a year.
I didn't particularly enjoy it, but it was a starting point for a post-college job. It did provide me with some good work experience, opportunities to meet people, and the experience of working a nine-to-five job.
After that year, I started working for my current company. Before we were acquired by Mercer, it was a different company called CPSG Partners. It was a small, boutique, almost startup-style company.
I've stayed with that company, so it's been an interesting transition. I've worked at the same place but have transitioned from a small, boutique firm with startup vibes to now working for Mercer, which is a multinational corporation with thousands of employees.
It's been enjoyable to have these two different types of experiences while essentially working at one company. The transition has been quite seamless.
