Maureen, an Institutional Operations Specialist, learned that professional growth comes from being honest with leadership, even when disagreeing with them; as she states, "you don't have to be a yes person," because good leaders value constructive feedback and diverse perspectives. By challenging assumptions and offering alternative viewpoints, career professionals create more robust outcomes and demonstrate true leadership potential.

What is one lesson that you have learned that has proven significant in your career?
You don't have to be a "yes person." I think sometimes we try to show a lot of empathy with our leaders and agree to whatever they say. That shouldn't be the case.
Sometimes we have to tell them that we don't agree with them in some aspects. If they are a really good leader, they will take that feedback from you.
