Challenges For A Learning Technology Support Engineer At Amazon Robotics
Matthew, a Learning Technology Support Engineer at Amazon Robotics, finds the biggest challenge is realistically scaling VR and 360 initiatives to a global network given budget and logistical considerations, and also needs to ensure current platforms "still are of use" to end users given that content and accessibility needs are constantly changing in the warehouses. Staying connected to end-users while his team remains "in the background" is thus also a significant and ongoing concern.

What is the biggest challenge in your role?
Lately, the biggest roadblocks have been how to realistically scale our projects. With our VR and 360 initiatives, the concept is there and we've proven they can be viable and helpful.
However, scaling this to a global network of fulfillment and sort centers, with hundreds of thousands of technicians, presents a challenge. We need to consider how to scale logistically and from a budget standpoint.
There have been many discussions at my level and above about how this could be feasible. This has been a significant challenge for me recently, and also for my role specifically.
My team works more behind the scenes. We're not out in the field taking pictures of new assets or writing documentation ourselves. This makes it a challenge for me to stay connected to our end users.
I need to see if the platforms we currently have are still useful to them, or if there are improvements we could make. This is especially true as times change and things evolve in the warehouses. How people access our content is a big factor.
I consider this almost monthly, if not more frequently. I think about how I can stay involved in content creation and see if our platform is still helpful as is, or how it needs to change.
