What if you learn about this world that you wish someone would have told you before you entered the industry?

It's a tight-knit group of people that have been around for a long time, and there are many different personalities. You really don't know them until you start working in the real world. This is industry-based across the board; you have to navigate personalities.

I think that's the biggest learning curve of any job. You don't always work with like-minded people, and you have to figure out how to work with additional characteristics and people you may not get along with or don't agree with their direction. It's figuring out how to work with these people.

I wish someone had told me or directed me in the past, maybe in school, to follow my love of data. I didn't even know it was really a thing. I think that was something I never explored in the past.

I kind of just fell into this job eventually because I liked the event space and thought it was fun and flashy. Until I actually got into the data, I was like, "Oh, I kind of like this." It would have been interesting to see in college.

Someone could have said, "Hey, Lauren, you really like data. You should follow something and maybe do something different." I never knew. But I think if someone had told me data is central to everything functioning in the world today, you have to have it.

If you can't measure, then you're lost. If you are trying to do something and can't measure your success, you're going to fail. So, I think that's really what I would say.
