What is your biggest challenge in your current role?

My biggest challenge in my current role is navigating the balance between doing right by the candidates I'm helping and doing right by the clients and the business I work for. There's a lot of chatter about HR just being the corporate servant.

In certain cases, we certainly have to operate that way, but I think a lot of HR professionals, recruiters included, always try to be as empathetic and human as possible. We're also people at the end of the day, in the same boat as everybody else.

We just happen to have certain information that may direct the course of where the company wants to go in the next couple years, information not everyone gets to have.

Another challenge is unexpectedly losing your voice. There are days where you might just be sending emails and coordinating. Then there are days where you have interview after interview, lunch break, and you keep going.

I've certainly had days where I had no words left for the rest of the day. So, I'd say make sure you understand the importance of tea, potentially.
