What are your main responsibilities within your role as a business development manager for a clinic?
Essentially, what I do is promote our clinic and the business. I work specifically in wound care, which is a very nuanced field in medicine.
My role involves patient acquisition and growing our patient volume. However, I've taken the role much further because my main goal has always been to improve patient journeys.
I was also a patient who had a difficult healthcare experience. I know many people face similar struggles and roadblocks that prevent them from receiving timely care and staying on top of their health. I believe it's an injustice that the healthcare system is often made difficult to navigate.
Within my role, when I do get patients, I essentially manage their entire case. I ensure all their appointments are set up, including their first checkup, to avoid any loose ends in their care journey.
Even though I'm only supposed to focus strictly on wound care, I believe the people in intake who go the extra mile for patients are invaluable. Making sure insurance is processed quickly and patients are covered for care makes a huge difference in their lives.
My day-to-day involves managing patient cases, handling intake, and maintaining relationships with our community health partners. I also educate these partners and seniors about preventive and proactive wound care practices.
Ultimately, we're trying to create a community and network focused on collaborative care, where resources are used rather than competed with.
