What sort of skills are most important for teachers?

The most important skills, I believe, are organization. You've just got to be organized in your approach for the day, how you interpret material, and how you explain material. Being organized is essential.

Then the next piece is commitment. A very committed mentality that you're going to see it through. You're not going to give up on the students, and you're not going to give up on yourself in the process.

You don't want to give up on really anything. You will figure out a way to make it work and find all the different modalities of learning and teaching that you can. So, commitment.

And then I'd say enthusiasm. As a teacher, your passion, you need to want it. It's a career where you shouldn't just mail it in, and the students can tell. The classroom energy can feel that.

If you're not in it, they're not in it. And so the learning won't be maximized. So, organization, commitment, and enthusiasm.
