What did you do in undergrad to set up for success in your career?
As I said, I didn't think I would be using my journalism degree, but it turns out I actually do quite a bit. Starting out, I focused on building raw skills. Then, I figured out on my own that networking is actually relationship building.
This helped me move into my current role because it was based on friends. They reached out to me and said, "Hey, I think you'd be really good for this role." It was me extending myself and wanting to help others that made this career open up for me.
