How would you describe people who typically thrive in this industry?
I had mentioned the previous company I was with. Prior to that, I was with another company, and it was all defense contracts. It was a defense contract company, and then Northrop Grumman.
I would say that as far as people who thrive, they are self-motivated and self-directed. They ask questions and are willing to challenge. They welcome being challenged because they look at it as an opportunity to make the whole organization better.
What I don't see from the people I work with now are people who hoard information and keep secrets. They think, "Oh, I'm not going to share this. I learned a secret that works, and I'm just going to hold it to myself." No, that's not how we do business.
People who thrive, excel, and build camaraderie, bond, and trust are people who share their knowledge, their wealth, and their experiences. Even on the reverse, they share their mistakes. They'll say, "I made a mistake, and look, let me share this with everybody." When that happens, there's no fault; we learn from it and move on.
Those are people who thrive. They are willing to share, to be driven, self-motivated, and self-directed in this industry.
