Favorite Parts of Being a Co-Founder and CEO at Ascender Systems
Jorge, as Co-Founder & CEO, most enjoys seeing the success of those who work at Ascender Systems, and recognizing their contributions, which are "far, far greater than the money that we spend". Ultimately, the goal is to help employees get what they need out of their job, so "they won't look at it as a job anymore" but as something they enjoy and are rewarded for.

What do you enjoy most about being in your role?
I truly enjoy what's ironic is that my previous answer was about human capital. My answer about what I most enjoy is seeing the success of the people that work for me. There is nothing that makes me happier than acknowledging and recognizing those people in a public forum.
Now, I know for some people they're a little bit shy, so I don't want to make them uncomfortable. For those individuals, I will submit what we call Bravos, and those will be either financial or non-financial incentives. I like to give, I like to make them financial, and so I like to put a dollar amount to it.
It's important for me to recognize them. The payback I get is far, far greater than the money that we spend. It comes out of our budget, but you get it so many times over.
I think if more leaders looked for those incentives or opportunities, whether it be financial, recognition, or greater responsibility and accountability, and you spend all your time looking to help those people get what they need out of their job, then they won't look at it as a job anymore. They'll look at it as something they enjoy doing, that they come here, and that they are being rewarded and recognized commensurately for the effort they put in.
