What skills are most important for a job like yours?
I think I kind of categorize skills into two categories. These are probably the most important.
One of the most important things to know is how to build frameworks and processes from scratch. In general, you're not going to get a lot of direction, even from the client. Sometimes your team has no idea what you're doing.
You have to come up with your own way to problem-solve and get to where you want to go. Being able to conceptualize things in a way that makes sense, communicate in a way that makes sense, and come up with steps to get to where you want to go is very important.
Also, in terms of soft skills, communication is a huge part. You could do the best work in the world, but at the end of the day, you have someone that you're selling to, which is your client. You have to be able to communicate your vision and your reasons for taking certain actions so they will actually adopt it.
On the hard skill side, this is general stuff. You have to be good with data, know how to analyze it and work with it. You also have to be good at creating presentations to help with your storytelling. I'd say those are probably the most important skills.
