College Experiences That Helped a Senior Consultant at AArete Succeed

Jerry, a Senior Consultant at AArete, reflects that undergraduate preparation for career success was lacking, wishing they had "pulled off the eye into what I wanted to do." However, later success stemmed from "putting in the work to really get to know the industry" and "reaching out to people to learn from their experiences," illustrating the importance of proactive industry research and networking.

What did you do in your undergrad to set you up for success in your career?

I feel like I didn't do much to set myself up for success in my career. I definitely should have done more.

I didn't really pull through on what I wanted to do after graduating, and I definitely wish I had. If I had, I probably could have known how to prepare and what school resources to use.

I probably could have applied to some higher-tier firms. But some of the things I did that helped myself were buckling down and really looking into what I wanted to do.

I put in the work to get to know the industry before applying, and I reached out to people to learn from their experiences and what we're applying. So I'd say those two things.
