Could you walk me through your career path? I'm interested in your experiences in college, any internships, or jobs you had before your current role.

My career path is definitely not what I thought it was going to be. I originally started volunteering. My mom worked in human resources for over 30 years, so I volunteered for the City of Santa Rosa human resources department back home before college, when I was in high school.

Then I worked at various restaurants and different customer service related roles. Back in 2012, I roomed with a nice girl at USD whose aunt was a recruiter for AMN Healthcare. It was really nice having connections.

Otherwise, it would have been difficult to get into that company, as jobs are not easy to get into there unless you know someone. I kind of fell into my position there. I started off in quality services as a quality services analyst, running report checks for nurses, physicians, and healthcare staff throughout the United States.

Then there was an opening in the recruitment department for RPO, Recruitment Process Outsourcing. I had never recruited before, but they liked me and gave me a shot. I ended up filling in for someone on maternity leave and was there for a few years recruiting for pharmacists for CVS Caremark and different hospitals throughout the United States. That was where I really fell into my love for recruiting.

After that position ended, the person from maternity leave returned, and a bunch of our accounts were closed down. I then found my way into a smaller healthcare organization called United Nursing International Healthcare. I started off as a recruiter there, and then I did branch management, payroll, and HR, pretty much all the hats.

That was definitely an experience. It was a busy position, and with only a team of six, it could be challenging at times. I resigned after five years to finish my master's degree at Point Loma Nazarene in business with a specialization in entrepreneurship and innovation.

Then I worked for UCSD for a while at the Rady School of Management, right before COVID started. Unfortunately, I was laid off from that position. But it was a huge blessing because it allowed me to work with my mom on her consulting business and then eventually branch off and start my own coaching business.

All the hardships and frustrating times ended up working out. It allowed me to find my passions and led me to where I am now, so I'm grateful.
