What does a day in the life of an office CEO look like?
I reviewed my schedule for Mondays, but essentially every day includes some form of interaction with leaders in my organization. This ensures their teams are aligned with their goals for the day, week, month, quarter, and year. Everything is organized into a larger output.
At any given moment, I might receive communications from within my organization or externally that signal issues or threats. I have to compartmentalize these and prepare them for quick resolution. Often, how we respond to these situations strengthens our bonds with team members, clients, or partners.
This becomes more common the larger your company is and the more team members you have. I've spoken with founders of companies with thousands of employees, and they mentioned that any time they check their phone, there's some sort of messaging like this. So, you need to balance that with all the successes.
Every day, I receive praise about our performance and our team members. I have to make sure that praise doesn't cloud my perspective on other aspects of our work. We constantly need to look for ways to improve ourselves.
This includes daily updates, recurring meetings, and internal structures we use to monitor our growth. We track progress toward accounts, revenue, profitability, and expenses, whatever it may be. I want to ensure our focus remains on the larger objectives and we're not sidetracked by urgent day-to-day situations.
