Favorite Parts Of Being A Teacher At California's Highlands Community Charter School

Jamie enjoys the opportunity to teach immigrants, "mostly women," who are eager to learn due to limited educational access in their home countries, deriving satisfaction from "empowering them" with the tools and confidence to communicate effectively in English. What is most fulfilling about Jamie's role is being able to have a positive impact in these students' lives.

What do you enjoy most about being in your role?

What I enjoy most is teaching all immigrants, mostly women, from countries where education isn't readily available to everyone. They are so eager to learn and so happy to be in school, to be able to go to school.

So, what I enjoy most is empowering them and giving them the tools they need to feel confident. This helps them go out into the world and be able to communicate with others in English.
