Favorite Parts Of Working In The Blockchain Industry As A Marketing And Protocol Director

Houston, a Director of Marketing and Protocol Relations, thrives on the innovative nature of the blockchain industry, enjoying the ability to "make up the rules" and implement novel marketing strategies. This allows for constant experimentation—"if it works, awesome. If it doesn't, why didn't it work?"—and creative freedom, a stark contrast to the perceived rigidity of established companies like Amazon.

What do you enjoy most about being in your industry?

I like being able to make up the rules, and I mean that in a weird way. I'm the kind of person who likes having a blank canvas to paint on.

I actually got offers from Amazon to go back and work in their marketing department. But honestly, that sounds awful to me. I like being able to say, "Hey, I want to try this out. We've never done this before."

I'm doing innovative marketing techniques, touching new technologies, and connecting with new people in new ways. The idea of having to write a billboard, while it could be fun, isn't very exciting to me.

What's exciting about this industry specifically is that you can sort of make s**t up. If it works, awesome. If it doesn't, you ask why it didn't work and what you can do better next time.

There's really no limit to what you can do. You can set the course of what you want to do in any direction, and that includes marketing. I like being able to be creative and flex those muscles, especially in the blockchain industry.
