What entry-level positions in this field might an undergraduate college student consider?
This is super cool. The way I started at ShapeShift was as a part-time writer for the marketing department. I literally just wrote articles about crypto.
It was really cool because I didn't really know about the actual tech that other companies were building in crypto. I only knew it from a customer, node operator, or validator perspective. Finding opportunities like that, where you can practice skills and learn, then puts you into the next positions.
Even though I'm the Director of Marketing now, all the things I've done and learned until now were acquired on the job. It's like, "Can you do this?" "Sure." Then I go learn about it. As I'm doing it, I'm learning and practicing. You just do that ad nauseam until you get better.
That's a really great way to start. If you don't know anything about blockchain but enjoy writing, start writing articles. You can even say, "Hey, I just wrote this. Pay me." Then you're hired as a part-time writer and can get going.
