What is one lesson you have learned that has proven significant in your career?
That's a good question. One lesson I've learned, proven, significant in my career, is that you attract more bees with honey. This has been really helpful.
I think one of my strong suits has been to forge alliances in the workplace and to network in a natural setting. When people say, "Go network with that person," it sounds kind of cringey and fake. I try to meet people and get to know them before I would ask for help or a recommendation.
I generally find people to be interesting and feel I could learn a lot from anyone I talk to. By taking that approach, it's helped me out. I have more confidence in the workplace because I see many people I know.
Plus, you never know what information you might learn. For example, this person's working on a partnership with this company. My team and I are talking to another company, and we want to get their insight into what they did with their partner and what challenges they faced. There's always something to learn.
Just going out, being kind to people, and asking for their time without being afraid has been helpful. Forging those alliances early on is beneficial. People always told me to be sure to do this, and it has helped me a lot in my career.
