What did you do in college to set you up for success in your career?

That's a great question. I think what I studied in college isn't super relevant to what I'm doing now. But I would say the extracurriculars I was involved in set me up for success in my career more than anything.

I was involved in various singing groups, including acapella and a folk singing band. I was also a French tutor and managed one of our campus late-night eateries, essentially a cafe where people could get food.

Through all those groups, I had experiences taking on leadership opportunities, managing people, and working with people. I found all of that really useful throughout my career. It was about working with different people and learning how to have difficult conversations.

You also learn how to navigate situations when working with peers, as you can't always disincentivize certain actions. So, you have to be creative with how you phrase things and bring up conversations.

All those experiences, working with people different from me and navigating leadership, definitely helped set me up for success. If you can get involved in similar groups and take advantage of leadership opportunities, do so. It will set you up for more success later on because 99% of life is working with people.
