Could you walk me through your career path? Please start with your experiences in college. Also, include any internships or jobs you had before your current role.

In college, I completed several internships. The most impactful for my career path was at the US State Department in Bordeaux, France. I worked at the American presence post, primarily engaging with US and French businesses operating in the region.

I worked with aerospace companies and also with soft goods companies, such as Sandal four, which produces jams and cookies. This internship allowed me to promote US-French business relations and celebrate Americans abroad.

After college, I considered international relations but returned to the DC area. I applied for various roles at think tanks and nonprofits, eventually securing a position at Lidl. Lidl is a German grocery chain, comparable to Trader Joe's, and they had just established their US headquarters in Arlington, Virginia.

Lidl was hiring for numerous positions, and I joined their real estate team. While real estate wasn't initially on my radar, it presented an exciting opportunity with an international company establishing itself in a new country. I saw it as a chance to learn and grow.

During my two years at Lidl, I worked across all aspects of real estate. I began with acquisitions, negotiating with brokers to purchase land for new grocery stores. I also contributed to the strategic planning of store locations.

Next, I moved into store development, working with city government and local groups to secure zoning and permits for the acquired land. Towards the end of my tenure, I was involved in the construction phase. I witnessed the completion of the first 100 Lidl grocery stores in the US.

This comprehensive experience provided me with a 360-degree understanding of real estate. After two years, I realized I particularly enjoyed the development stage.

I then found a role at a local DC-based developer, where I spent four years. I helped plan, design, and initiate the construction of a 2 million square foot development pipeline. This portfolio included office space, ground-floor retail, and public parks, reflecting the urban planning considerations required for such large-scale projects.

In this small company, I wore many hats. I collaborated with other developers, architects, engineers, and construction contractors. I also managed relationships with investors and city government, working to gain support for our projects.

During my time there, I also started my own band. As a singer and songwriter, this evolved into a side business. I handled negotiations with venues and marketing for shows, a labor of love that was both fun and demanding.

Then, Covid-19 hit, making it difficult to perform with the band. With only real estate work and the shift to remote operations, I realized that while real estate was interesting, my true passion lay in the entertainment and music industry. I decided to pursue music full-time, which ultimately led me to my current position.
