What do you enjoy the most about being in your industry?

What I enjoy the most about the work is definitely the hard work. Being a manager is not an easy job. You have to deal with people every single day.

Most of the time, people are not in their best mood. It takes a big toll on you. You have to wake up at 4:00 AM, and sometimes work overnight shifts. Or sometimes you have to leave the store at 12:00 AM, working from 1:00 PM to 12:00 AM.

Having that struggle is really important. Immediately after college, you're working hard through your job. You're understanding the struggles of different people. You also get an understanding of the day-to-day life of an average American.

This is super important because you want to build that perspective of what it's like for an individual who's working. Eventually, in your career, as you move up and get to manager positions, you'll already have the understanding of an average individual working in this industry.

I do enjoy the hard work, even though waking up in the morning can be difficult. There will be times when I'm working over 60 hours a week, and it's physically grueling. If people don't come to the store, the business still runs, so who's going to do the job? I'm going to do the job.

Whether that means filling up the shelves, being on the cashier for a few hours, filling up the produce section, or being in the kitchen baking pizzas for customers. The biggest thing about Amazon is customer service. In fact, their leadership principle is customer obsession.

Being in Amazon and this industry requires you to put yourself second and prioritize the customers first. When you do that, you're really getting a bigger understanding of people collectively. Working hard right now is super important because it will make the rest of your career easier. You've already faced so many challenges that it will be easier to navigate future professional challenges.
