Q3: Day in the life
What do I do on a day-to-day basis? Sometimes that includes engaging with my customers and getting the best out of them. That way, they can treat our customers with the best care and the best Amazon service.
We want to help our brand grow in the grocery department. The best way we do that is by having our associates engage with our customers. Another thing I do is receive trucks.
We get thousands of dollars of shipment every single day. Sometimes we get way more shipment than we need, and we won't have enough staff to support it. As a manager, I delegate tasks accordingly to make sure that, given the low staff, we're still able to put as many items on the shelf. We're still able to deliver online orders.
We really have to be on our feet all the time, making sure every customer is treated with the right care. You also want to make sure you're motivating your associates to get the best out of them, in a job environment that can be very stressful. You're not getting the highest pay; you're getting slightly over minimum wage.
Sometimes we have to work in the cooler. Many times, we have to come in to work at 4:00 AM, and then sometimes you have shifts where you're ending at 10:00 PM or 11:00 PM. It's very mundane and can take a big toll on your personal life.
But as a manager, I'm trying to improve my interpersonal skills to the best of my ability. I want to ensure I can keep these associates helping our business and Amazon in general.
