Could you walk me through your career path, starting with your experiences in college and any internships or jobs you had before your current role?

My career path started in college as an officer for the Cal Poly Entrepreneurs Club. This experience taught me about the different entrepreneurship paths available. You don't have to start your own business; you can work for a startup or become an "intrapreneur" by innovating within an existing company.

Through that club, I found my first internship at Postgrad, which was formerly Unanimous AI. I was their first business hire, responsible for program management, from creating online events to building community. It was a great opportunity, my first real career experience.

Unfortunately, working for that startup didn't work out due to a lack of funding. My next career opportunity came during the pandemic. A friend from Cal Poly published a book, which inspired me.

I had an idea for a book about cryptocurrency and Bitcoin, a subject I was learning a lot about. I even came up with my own cryptocurrency concept. I decided to write a book about this idea, coining the term "authorpreneur" – where your book essentially becomes your business.

I created an author website, ethan tur.com, and even went on a book tour across the western United States in my van. It was a fun way to spend the pandemic, culminating a year of writing with the experience of selling my book.

Because of this, my publisher hired me to help other authors market and sell their books. I joined another startup, working for my publisher for just over a year, teaching authors marketing strategies.

Recently, within the last three months, I joined a real estate firm in Los Angeles. They are not a startup, with over 500 employees. I was looking for more stability, as I've worked in multiple startups and different company types.

I'm at a stage where I want to become a subject matter expert. I'm now a marketing analyst for this real estate firm, spending a lot of time doing research and analytics. My work is very Excel-heavy, creating reports for vice presidents and requiring attention to detail.

It's been a wild career ride, but I expected this when I chose entrepreneurship. There isn't one specific path; it's more about trying different things to see what works. That's how my career has unfolded so far.
