What does a day in the life as a personnel analyst look like?
My typical day involves working in the office. I don't really telework, so my routine starts with getting up and ready before heading into the office.
Once I'm there, I check my emails to prioritize tasks. I receive a variety of requests, such as hiring managers asking to open job postings or candidates inquiring about the application process. I then organize my to-do list with the most important tasks first and structure my day accordingly.
I also screen job applications that have come in overnight or that I haven't yet reviewed. Additionally, I book meetings with different hiring managers throughout the day. If I'm working on a job description for their website, I set aside time for a phone call or Microsoft Teams meeting. This ensures I understand their needs and stay on track to meet their goals.
In between these activities, I attend internal team meetings. We discuss county strategy and the populations we aim to reach with specific recruitments. My role is quite meeting-heavy, but it's a great opportunity to interact with various stakeholders.
The flow of my day depends on who I need to speak with, the priority of tasks, and checking in with my team. I manage two people, so I allocate one-on-one time with each to ensure they have the support they need to succeed in their roles.
