Erica's main responsibilities as a law clerk involve "reading, attending hearings, drafting orders," and significantly contributing to a judge's opinions by independently identifying key issues in cases. What are some of the main responsibilities of being a law clerk?
My role involves attending hearings and preparing memos for the judge. We discuss her opinions on specific cases, but ultimately, it's up to me to identify the issues presented.
This work entails a lot of reading, attending hearings, and drafting orders. There's considerable redrafting and editing involved, but it's a truly unique and valuable position. I graduated from law school a year ago, and now, instead of being a lawyer, I'm essentially acting as a judge.
