What did you do in undergrad to set you up for success in your career?

I explored different majors as an undergraduate. Originally, I was an undecided student going into LMU. That's what I was when I started.

During that first year, especially by the second semester, I knew I wanted to go into teaching. Taking those general education classes really helped me figure out a career path. I went to the different college booths on campus, exploring majors like Communications and Business.

This exploration helped me realize I enjoyed working with people and seeing them grow and develop. It was exciting, though not necessarily in a social worker capacity. Becoming more organized also played a role.

I was an RA, a Resident Advisor, and working with people directly really helped me see that I could do this. I was able to adjust and be flexible, and I enjoyed that pace of working directly with people.

So, I would say explore and give yourself time. It's okay to change your plan, even if it's different from what you initially envisioned.
