What are your main responsibilities within your current role?
I am currently an equity partner at Dinsmore and Shohl, a large, national law firm based out of Cincinnati. I work in our San Diego office.
Being a partner comes with both business management responsibilities for the firm and your own legal practice. You sit on different committees and help vote on decisions that guide the business.
You also manage your caseload, client relationships, and the associates working on your cases. It's a dual role with oversight and hands-on involvement in daily operations.
You also have business-focused responsibilities, like any business owner. This includes HR, employee issues, and helping employees develop their skills, from paralegals to associate lawyers.
It's a hybrid role. You have the same legal responsibilities as a practicing lawyer, along with the business and administrative duties of a business owner, CEO, or board member. Those are my day-to-day responsibilities.
