What do you enjoy most about being in your current role?
Here's the cleaned transcript:
Two things, and they're both related to development. The first is client development and developing those relationships. I love it when I have the opportunity to work for a new client and my team can produce a result that the client is so happy with that the next time they have a legal issue, they just pick up the phone and call me.
That's really what I strive for in my business: to develop those relationships and to let the client know that I'm the attorney that they can always call, whether it's morning, noon, or night. They have my cell phone, they have my email. I will respond promptly.
I will always either find them a lawyer within my firm that can provide them the type of service they're looking for, or I've got a Rolodex, or now an iPhone full of contacts, that can provide that service if my firm doesn't. So that's client development.
The second related thing I really enjoy is developing younger talent and mentoring young attorneys. I help share the insights that I've gleaned in my 15-year career with them. These insights have all been drawn from people with a lot more experience than me, 30, 40, even 50 years of experience.
So, client development, client relationships, and then building young talent, helping develop young attorneys, and watching them grow. I enjoy seeing them take on tasks that they didn't maybe think they had within them to complete successfully. Then, watching them complete that successfully and really shine.
