What skills are most important for a job like yours?

Skill number one is being a people person. You don't have to be an extrovert, but you do need to connect with clients.

Without clients, you don't have a business. This means being able to talk to people, whether in meetings with current clients or at networking events prospecting for new ones.

Number two is learning how to study. Studying and exams don't end after college. As a financial advisor, you'll need to pass many licensing exams.

These include the life and health exam, annuity exam, SIE, Series 7, and Series 66. Eventually, you'll want to pursue your CFP. Many of these require online modules and culminate in an exam.
