What does a day in the life of a used car director look like?
A lot of roles are involved in the used car director position. The day starts pretty early in the morning.
From there, I receive many phone calls and emails from people trying to sell me cars. These are usually wholesalers, brokers, and rent-a-car companies like Enterprise and Hertz. They are all trying to get rid of inventory and sell me their vehicles.
Before that, I go over my initial tasks, such as inventory management. I make sure we have inventory and, if not, I can see what we need to replace.
I also walk around to verify the cars are in good condition and see what else we need. From there, I decide if we need more inventory. I discuss different price points and trends to make a good decision on what to buy for the store.
