What entry-level positions are there in this field that an undergraduate college student might consider?
The main entry-level roles are analyst positions. There are many different roles in commercial real estate, including acquisitions, the equity side, and the debt side.
There are also roles in sales, brokerage, appraisals, and asset management. Networking with people in these areas can help you find a path that speaks to you and aligns with the lifestyle you want.
When I was switching over from Goldman, I networked with individuals in different areas of finance. This helped me understand the business and what those roles entailed, as well as the career growth potential.
I think starting as an analyst and gaining experience working with these kinds of assets is super important. It's also easy to switch down the line, so your first experience is very helpful.
