What have you learned about this role that you wish someone had told you before you entered the industry?
I think one thing that I wish someone had told me is that this role truly requires a lot of adaptability. Things can change at a moment's notice, especially with hiring.
For instance, you might spend weeks finding a candidate, only for the company to decide they're no longer hiring for that position. In those situations, you just have to backtrack.
Another aspect is that there are many difficult conversations involved. Sometimes, you'll make a candidate an offer, they'll sign their offer letter, and then you have to call them to say you're sorry, but you won't be hiring anyone for that role anymore. So, while there are many great conversations about hiring people, you also have to have some uncomfortable ones.
