A couple of skills are really important. First is public speaking. I'm talking to new people all day, every day. This includes candidates over the phone, sometimes on video calls, and other departments like HR and hiring managers.
You really have to get used to coming out of your shell and speaking to all different sorts of people from different walks of life. Time management is also crucial because I manage my own schedule.
With recruiting, you're setting up interviews and managing your time to ensure you can send offer letters and post jobs. You need to keep track of your own schedule.
Being detail-oriented is essential. When posting jobs, you need all the details, like qualifications and pay rates, to be correct. The same applies when hiring: you input their name, birthday, and rate of pay into the company system.
When sending out offer letters, it's crucial that all that information is accurate. So, those are some really important skills.
Additionally, sales is important in recruiting because you're essentially selling someone on working for your company. You want to highlight the good things about your company, the benefits, and why they'd be a good fit for the role and for us. There's a bit of sales involved.
